How to verify your identity and receive your SIM card from Japan Post Office

📌 What is this guide about?

After you apply for a NyuuLy Mobile, the Japan Post Office will contact you to verify your identity (KYC). Once verified, they will hand over your SIM card package.

This guide walks you through the process step by step.

Before You Start

⚠️ Important: Use Your Residence Card (Zairyu Card)

You MUST verify your identity using your Residence Card (which you received at the airport upon arrival).

Your address must already be registered on it.

Even if the Post Office accepts other documents, only the Residence Card will work in our system.

What happens first

After your application is confirmed, you will receive a Post Office Notification Slip in your mailbox — within 2–3 business days for an eSIM, or 4–5 business days for a physical SIM card.

It will be 3 A4 pages, all in Japanese — don't worry, you don't need to read them! Just bring the slip with you or use it to book a home delivery.

What to bring

Your Residence Card (Zairyu Card) — with your registered address on it
Your Post Office Notification Slip

What to do at the Post Office

Show the staff your Notification Slip. They will know exactly what to do.
Show them your Residence Card (Zairyu Card).
They will confirm your details, and make a copy of your Residence Card.

The Post Office staff will hand you your SIM card package.

Follow the Start Guide enclosed in your SIM card package to activate your SIM card, or eSIM.

Option 2: Book a Home Delivery

Step 1 — What to prepare

Your Residence Card (Zairyu Card) — with your registered address on it
Your Notification Slip

Step 2 — Book your appointment online

Scan the QR code on your Notification Slip, or access this URL. Then follow these steps:

Enter your tracking number (追跡番号) — found on the Notification Slip.
Click the red button "次へ" (Next).
Keep "ご自宅等" selected (first cell). Select "在留カード" in the next cell. Click "次へ".
Enter your birthdate (生年月日). In Japanese forms, the year follows the Japanese calendar era. Months are the same as the regular calendar.
Enter your Residence Card number (top right of your card). The form requires full-width characters — paste your card number into ChatGPT etc. and ask it to convert to full-width, then copy-paste it into the form.
Choose your preferred delivery date and time.
Enter your address starting with your zip code. Click the address search button (郵便番号から住所を検索) to auto-fill most of it. Complete the remaining fields (apartment/room number, etc.).
Click "次へ", review your details, then click "申し込む" (Submit). You will see the confirmation page (受付完了).

⚠️ Important reminders

The address you enter must match your Residence Card exactly.
For "日中ご連絡先" (daytime phone), you can use any phone number.
For "受取人様" (recipient name), enter your name exactly as it appears on your Residence Card — no space between given names and family name.
You can skip all fields marked "任意" (optional).

Step 3 — When the Post Office staff arrives

Show them your Residence Card (Zairyu Card)
Show them your Notification Slip
They will verify your identity, make a copy of your Residence Card, and hand over your SIM card or eSIM Start Guide
