Preparing Your Dependent Visa Documents And New Life

Before applying for a spouse visa, ask your inviter (your spouse/partner already in Japan) to gather the following documents. Your role is lighter here.
Proof of relationship — marriage certificate / relative certificate
Copy of inviter's Residence Card (Zairyu Card)
Proof of income (e.g. 1 year bank statement)
Proof of accommodation (e.g. apartment lease agreement copy)
Employment Certificate (if inviter is on working visa) OR School Enrollment Certificate (if on student visa)
Passport
Visa Application
10~14 weeks
Your inviter handles the CoE application in Japan.
CoE (original or digital copy)
Passport (6+ months valid)
Visa application form + ID photos
Copy of proof of relationship (marriage/relative certificate)
Copy of inviter's Residence Card
Translate documents to Japanese if in other languages (except passport)
Attend interview if requested
Wait for 5-10 business days for approval
Prepare the visa fee (approx. 3,000-6,000 JPY in local currency)
Pick up your passport with the Japanese Visa
